Life has suddenly taken a turn for the better with the fixing of the boiler and the arrival of heat in my house! Now I just need to learn about Fahrenheit temperatures so I can set the thermostat, and all will be good. Quality of life improved by 150%. The landlord came last night to verify that it wasn't something he could fix, and this morning at 9.15 the repairman came!! Scarily efficient - luckily I was awake...
I also spent a looong time with an insurance broker this morning, trying to figure out what health insurance I need. I shall not be rude to my current adoptive country in writing. But really - give me free health care and more taxes any day, if only to spare me the pain of trawling through all the paperwork....Also, I can't get over the fact that being female makes me twice as expensive as a man of the same age!! On the plus side, I have insurance on belongings and bicycle and any damage caused by me to people with said bicycle, which is reassuring.

La vita e' decisamente migliorata con la riparazione della caldaia e l'arrivo del riscaldamento in casa! Adesso devo solo imparare cosa significano le varie temperature in gradi Fahrenheit cosi' posso sistemare il termostato senza creare una sauna in casa, e poi tutto sara' a posto. Qualita' della vita migliorata del 150%. Il padrone di casa e' venuto ieri sera per controllare se era un problema che potesse risolvere lui o no, e stamattina alle 9 e un quarto e' arrivato il tecnico!! Fin troppo efficiente - per fortuna ero gia' sveglia...
Ho anche trascorso una luunga mattinata con un broker di assicurazioni oggi, cercando di capire che tipo di assicurazione sanitaria mi serve. Non voglio essere scortese nei confronti del paese che mi ha adottato per il momento. Pero'...preferisco assistenza sanitaria gratis e piu tasse!! Se non altro per evitare di dover spulciare tutte queste carte...e poi mi fa troppo incazzare il fatto che essere donna raddoppia il costo dell'assicurazione rispetto a un uomo della stessa eta'! Dal lato positivo pero' ho l'assicurazione sugli oggetti e la bici e danni arrecati da me ad altri con suddetta bicicletta, il che mi fa sentire piu tranquilla.
Pregasi anche vedere la foto delle belle foglie autunnali - ci sono altre foto sul mio profilo su Facebook se vi interessa. Nick arriva domani per qualche giorno, quindi magari girando faro' altre foto.
