You told me so

Well, it seems like a good idea to blog rather than inundate people with emails...then at least you can choose whether you want to read this or not! There will be Italian versions of posts too, for the most part, though they probably won't be literal translations - so don't use them to teach yourself Italian!! Also am still finding my way round blogger, so hopefully things will become more sophisticated with time...

Anyway, this is just to say that I am well, I am happier than I expected to be, if still a little jet lagged, and am quickly getting stuff done such as bank accounts and phones and social security numbers. Princeton is indeed extremely pretty - as people had said - and extremely small - like Cambridge sized I'd say - and fairly devoid of any useful shops, though there are lots of delis and ice cream/candy stores. Mmm, ice cream. On the plus side, everyone seems to be an Obama supporter, which bodes well.

My house is cute - photos to follow at some point - and becoming increasingly domesticated and useful. I met up with some people from work the other night and they were slightly horrified at my use of public transport to get to the mall (the only place I could get a mobile phone, more or less), so one nice girl drove me to the mall yesterday morning to get lots of bulky stuff I couldn't possibly carry on the bus. I've also overcome my fear of death by acquiring a bike, and will look into driving schools asap - it is seriously impossible to get by without a car :-(

Enough random drivel for now, more to follow at some point in the near future!

Lo so che e' un po banale, ma mi sembrava meglio scrivere un blog piuttosto che assillare la gente con tante mail...almeno cosi uno e' libero di scegliere se leggere o no! La versione italiana dei post non e' una traduzione letterale di quella inglese quindi magari non e' una buona idea usarle per imparare l'inglese....Mi sto ancora orientando all'interno di blogger quindi spero che nel futuro il blog avra' un aspetto piu' decente.

Comunque, questo e' giusto per dire che sto bene, sono piu contenta di quel che mi aspettassi, il jet lag non mi e' ancora passato, e sto riuscendo a fare cose utili abbastanza rapidamente - ho un conto in banca, un telefono, un codice fiscale. Princeton e' molto molto carina e molto molto piccola - due strade principali e le traverse residenziali - e anche piuttosto priva di negozi utili. In compenso ci sono un sacco di negozi specializzati alimentari (carissimi) e gelaterie...E poi tutti sembrano essere supporter di Obama, il che mi sembra un buon segno.

La casa e' carina - seguiranno foto - e sta diventando sempre piu 'casa' e fungibile. L'altra sera mi sono vista con alcuni colleghi che erano abbastanza sconvolti dal fatto che avessi usato i mezzi pubblici per andare al mall (che e' in c**o al mondo, ed e' l'unico posto dove potessi acquisire un cellulare), quindi ieri mattina una ragazza mi ha gentilmente accompagnato al mall in macchina e cosi' ho potuto comprare tutte le cose voluminose tipo microonde, piatti pentole etc. Ho anche superato il terrore della morte e ho preso una bicicletta, e al piu presto devo trovare la scuola guida - e' veramente impossibile sopravvivere senza auto :-(

Basta sproloquiare per ora, seguiranno altri post nel futuro non troppo lontano!
